"Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing, to declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him." Psalm 92:13-15 (NKJV)
There's a verse I keep coming back to, and every time I read it, something in me rises up. Psalm 92:14 says, "They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing."
Still. That one word is doing a lot of work. Still means continuously, presently, right now, in this season.
I've had the privilege of traveling to over 30 countries, and one thing I've seen that no one ever puts on a highlight reel: the most fruitful leaders in the room are rarely the youngest ones. In El Salvador, I met a grandmother who led 50 people to Christ in a single year. People who didn't know her story assumed her best days were behind her. She never got that memo. She didn't have a platform, a podcast, or a social media following. She had faithfulness and the Spirit of God, and that was more than enough.
If you're past 40, 50, 60, or 70, and somewhere along the way you quietly agreed with the lie that your best years are behind you, I want you to hear something clearly: God says no. You are still fruitful. You are still fresh. You are still flourishing.
The world operates on an expiration date system. Culture tells you there's a window, and once it closes, you pivot to watching from the sidelines. But the Kingdom of God doesn't work that way. Moses didn't lead Israel until he was 80. Abraham didn't hold Isaac in his arms until he was 100. Anna had been widowed most of her life and was 84 years old when she stepped into one of the most significant prophetic moments in all of Scripture. God was not finished with any of them. He is not finished with you.
Here's what I want you to do this week. If you've believed the lie that you're past your usefulness, I want you to repent of that agreement. Not because you've done something wrong, but because you've believed something false. Agreement with a lie is its own kind of sin. God still has fruit for you to bear. The harvest He has assigned to your hands has not been reassigned. Ask Him directly: "Lord, what do You still want to do through me?" Then sit still long enough to hear the answer.
You are not done. You are still planted. You are still flourishing.
This week, go out of your way to encourage someone older in your life. Tell them their faithfulness inspires you. Invite them to serve alongside you at church. You might be the voice that inspires them to get back into Kingdom purposes.
I love you, and I'm for you.
